It's been a while since we checked in on the Gramercy Park Hotel but we realized that there's still new things going on at the hotel that don't involve Ian Schrager's celebutard bans.

The Alan Yau-helmed Park Chinois, a 150-seat Chinese restaurant, is set to open on November 16th but we spoke witha front desk employee today who said that reservations will be taken starting November 1.

Travel and Leisure's October issue also reports on the Roof Club at GPH which will open in December.

Based partly on a Viennese coffeehouse, partly on a London's gentlemen's club, the 6,000-square-foot space is for hotel guests and members only.

Three thousand square feet of this roof space will be outside but we assume that won't really be utilized until next spring.

Of course, no article on GPH can be complete without an crazy comment from co-interior designer, the artist Julian Schnabel, who describes his design inspiration:

"When I first walked into the rooms, I had no interest in decorating them. But then I started thinking how to redirect the space. I thought it should be like going to some crazy rich person's house and staying in the attic."

At last, Julian Schnabel has put into words what we have failed to do. Although, we do still think there are elements of a scary gothic sex castle. Maybe the rich person has an S&M theme in their attic?

If you have a clear idea of what a Viennese coffeehouse/London Gentlemen's Club looks like, send us your descriptions/renderings.
