Insane Hotel Packages: Mandarin Oriental's 'First Emperor' Opera Package

If you got some cash to throw around and you are anxious to see the "First Emperor" by composer Tan Dun premiere at the Metropolitan Opera on Dec. 21, then look no further than the Mandarin Oriental New York. The outrageously expensive hotel (their special internet rates start at $609) has put together this special opera package (along with the Metropolitan Opera and Saks Fifth Avenue)to coincide with the opening month of the new opera starring Placido Domingo. Included are:
· two orchestra seats (for performances either on Dec. 21 or sometime until Jan. 25)
· Accommodations with in either a Central Park view room or suite
· Afternoon backstage tour of the Metropolitan Opera
· $50 Saks Fifth Avenue gift certificate (with a purchase of $250 or more)
Taking the room will cost you $1,160 where as the suite goes for $1,750.
Oddly enough since hotel packages are all about throwing in breakfast this one doesn't even offer you a nibble of food.
