There is nothing better than a good old fashioned hotel rep mixing it up with us. And while we would much rather be hearing from a hotels General Manager, or at least someone in-house, hearing from some sort of hotel mouthpiece makes us smile, and is easily post-worthy.

After the jump, Maria Vu from Syndicate responds to our One Night At Tribeca Grand stay. In our humble opinion, PR folks can learn a lot from how Maria enters the conversation. As always, we welcome guests, hotel employees, and tipsters to enter the hotel conversation any way they wish--just remember to tell us who you are, cause we will find out anyway.

Tribeca Grand comments in italics, our original comments in bold, and our new comments in blue. Yours should go in the comments section below.

Hello HotelChatter:

Thanks for staying with us and taking the time to share your thoughts, we welcome all feedback especially such entertaining ones as yours: Now that we’ve finished patting ourselves and our “attractive” staff on the back for all the positive comments you gave us, we wanted the opportunity to respond to some of the negatives.

The rooms need flat screen televisions. See our previous post.

We are right with you on this one. Surely a hotel which boasts the unique “I-studios “-rooms with the latest Apple computers and equipment so travelers can edit their travel videos would not overlook the importance of hi-tech TV’s in the rooms - it’s basic Hotel 101. Rest assured that installing 32” Flat Screen Stereo TV’s in ALL our rooms have always been part of our current room renovation plans (a special shout out going out to our designers at Studio Sofield for their work). We are halfway through our refurbishments at the Tribeca Grand and it was very unfortunate that your room had not received the makeover with new amenities like : Personal DVD Player, Frette Egyptian Bed and Bath Linen, Custom Duvets, Custom Lighting fixtures by David Weeks, Bose Wave radios, down feather pillows and Malin and Goetz Bath amenities. Renovations take time as we do not wish to disrupt our hotel guests (bet you didn’t even know we were renovating), so in the meantime we thank you for your patience.

Nope, we had no idea you were renovating. How many rooms are currently renovated?

This hotel is located in what feels like the Bermuda Triangle of downtown Manhattan, making it a bit hard to find if you are on foot.

Its true, our ‘Lost and Found’ department has an unusually high number of ships, small boats and aircraft. I urge people, please come forth and claim your goods. For those of you who choose simpler forms of transport like by foot, we know that in Manhattan’s grid like city our location on a triangle is quirky but its part of our charm. How many hotels in NY can boast being a stones throw from Soho yet have such a unique and spacious entrance on their very own concrete island in the stream - that is what we are, no one in between (or beside us to cramping in our style), how could we be wrong? Besides we’re all savvy travellers here part of the the thrill of traveling is trying to find your way and should any of our guests get hopelessly lost, please call our Concierge services. They may be useful for sending you out to places but just as good at bringing you back.

Um, the night we stayed with you we were lucky enough to be in the presence of Matt Gross. You know, the NY Times MacGyver of travel dude who circumnavigated the globe with just a red paper clip? Maybe we are mixing up our stories. Anyway, not even super spiffy travel guru Matt Gross could locate your hotel--from the Tribeca Cinemas! Granted we eventually found it and no, we had not been drinking, well maybe that is a lie. In any event, you guys may want to think about handing out GPS devices to--then you could keep your charm, add new "techie" hook, and keep guests from traveling in endless concentric circles around your hotel. Then again, maybe it was just us.

The rooms are small but not cramped.

Wait till you see how much more room you gain with the new flat screen TV’s.

Guessing that means those wall-long desks are out of there too, good call. Again, when are the renovations going to be complete?

The price: Our price check for a October 9 - 11 stay returned $521.00. Yikes.

That’s $ 260.50 a night right? Are you sure you don’t have a famlly member on the inside?

$521.00 a night, for two nights. Touché

Anyway Hotel Chatter thanks for your time and please do come back and visit our refurbished rooms , you are welcome anytime. Gotta go now and crack the whip on those builders . We’ve got a lot of flat screens to install.

Seriously, Maria Vu, you made a lot of friends over here by coming in an chatting with us. The hotel mavens love it when hotels don't hide behind marketing material and double speak--just check out the comments when the Soho Grand came in. Y'all come back now, ya hear?
