VIVA VEGAS DEVELOPMENT
Finally, there's some new details about the $7 billion MGM CityCenter which has been demolishing old Vegas casino hotels to make room for this new montrosity. Actually the monster is a 66-acre "urban lifestyle community" in the heart of the Strip. It will be anchored by the 60-story condo-hotel resort, called CityCenter and which will feature two massive curved towers and another tower full of just condos. There will also be a Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Residences opening up on the north end. The south end will feature a boutique hotel of some sorts.
Even more residential towers are set to be built along with rooftop gardens, tons of retail space featuring only the finest stores and--get ready for this--a permanent Elvis Presley Cirque du Soleil show which is set to debut in 2009 in the hotel/casino.
In another three to four weeks, MGM will be unveiling more detailed plans for the CityCenter. Hope you can handle it.
VIVA VEGAS BUZZ KILL(?)
Yoko Ono is in love with the city. She's exhibiting drawings by John Lennon at the Hard Rock and recently told the Review-Journal just how special she thinks Sin City is.
The famed Central Park West resident has visited Las Vegas several times this year and recently returned to exhibit John Lennon's drawings at the Hard Rock Hotel. She tells the Las Vegas Sun, "The thing that's going on in Las Vegas, it's very interesting. It's the city of the future in a way. It's giving a lot of freedom to artists, and I think it's going to blossom because of that . . . I think it's a beautiful, beautiful city."
Yoko also has been visiting Vegas a lot this year thanks to the Beatles/Cirque du Soleil musical LOVE at The Mirage which uses all of the Beatles music. While we love LOVE, we think Yoko should stick to NYC.

VIVA VEGAS (FAKE) ADS
We got a little Vegas Hotel Ad-happy lately, ripping the really bad internet ads for Paris and Flamingo. But this YouTube Video takes it one step further with a parody of the "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" ads.
