If you loved Brokeback Mountain and want to live the real thing, then visit Nashville's Hotel Preston which is rounding up the official gay rodeo crowd.

You never know what you'll find when you surf your destination's tourism site for conventions coming to town. It's not a bad idea though: you could be stuck with 3,000 swingers or be planning a trip when there's a huge shoe convention going on.

If you were planning to stay at the Hotel Preston the weekend nights of October 20 and 21, you'll have to look elsewhere. Rooms are all booked by members of the International Gay Rodeo Association, convening their annual convention. (We imagine that membership is on the rise in these post-Brokeback Mountain days.)

There won't be a lot of lassoing and bull riding going on though; Hotel Preston is just past the airport runway and next to the interstate highway. They've proven that "airport hotel" and "fun" don't have to be mutually exclusive though. We like the whimsical molded yellow plastic sofas and red skylight by the front door, as well as the pet goldfish or lava lamp they will bring gratis your room. The ample rooms have new beds with white duvets, a pillow menu, Tazo Tea, Starbucks Coffee and a CD player with discs to borrow. Plus it's hard not to like the attitude of a place that offers a "Play Hard, Sleep Late" package--complete with bloody marys and painkillers when you get up.

We assume the big outdoor pool and sundeck will be covered in shirtless cowboys that weekend. If that's your scene, you can still rope yourself a room for the night of October 19 to catch the prelude, for $109 to $149.
