Marriott Customer Data AWOL

Uh-oh. Last month Marriott's timeshare unit reported that it had lost over 200,000 records of employees, timeshare owners, and customers.

The data was stored on computer tapes that are were stolen from the company's Orlando office. Marriott decided to begin mailing out letters to everyone who may have been affected, on Christmas Day! What a nice after-Christmas surprise from the Grinch.

Included in the letters are an offer to enroll the recipents with a identity-theft recovery service for a year.
