NY Post Celebrates Classic NYC Hotels
Last week the NY Times did a round-up of New York hotels for 2006. This week we have a list courtesy of the NY Post who's decided to pass over the "usual suspects" and celebrate the city's classic hotels
Leading off the paper's top five hotels for right now is the Lowell Hotel on E. 63rd St. For $495 a night:
No hotel fulfills the fantasy of life-as-it-used-to-be like this intimate beauty, located at the heart of one of the hemisphere's most elegant neighborhoods.
The Post also loves the lobby's cloth-covered paneling, marble floors, oriental vases and the concierge who's dishing out theater tickets in a hushed tone. Why go to the country, they ask, when you can get it better at this hotel.
Hmmm...while we are sure the Lowell is pretty fabulous, the country does have grass and wide-open spaces which is hard to beat.
Others rounding out the list are the:
· Trump International Hotel & Tower
· The Carlyle
· The Mercer Hotel
· The Ritz-Carlton Central Park
