NYC Sub $200 Boutique Dorm Hotel
If you are looking for an inexpensive stay in Manhattan, even during the current winter slowdown, choices are going to be few and far between, but you do have options.
The Ameritania is basically a boutique dorm. This hotel is never going to impress a seasoned Hotel Maven like dzot, however, if you are the kind of traveler that wants to impress friends and family with how little you paid for your Times Square hotel room, without getting killed, mugged, or infected while staying at said hotel, you could do a lot worse than the Ameritania.
The rooms are tiny, the television is tiny, the bathrooms are dark and a bit dank, but the hotel has clean sheets and a pleasant staff--oh, and did we mention we scored a room in January for--wait for it--$111.00.
As a bonus, you will get to peek into the upper levels of the Ed Sullivan theatre all night long.
Passable hotels in Manhattan for under $200 a night are few and far between, so take note bargain hunters.
