Jungle Bay Eco-Lodge

Where: Point Mulattre, Dominica
January 24, 2006 at 3:22 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Just opened, is the Jungle Bay in Dominica (which is part of the Windward Islands in the Carribbean)-- a new ecolodge which features "bungalows on stilts" or as they prefer to call their lodging design:

thirty-five tastefully furnished tropical hardwood cottages elevated on wooden posts, nestled beneath the undisturbed jungle of Dominica.

For Yogis, this is your dream getaway. The resort's Jungle Bay Yoga Center has two indoor yoga studios with finished wooden floors and views of the ocean. There's also an outdoor spa and several dining options, including a restaurant that features organically grown food.

But despite the hotel's "Communing with Nature" theme, the latest amenities are still in place, such as coffee/tea making facilities, mini refrigerator, in-room safe, clock radio and private patio with furnishings.

One recent reviewer had this to say:

The Jungle Bay staff is local, most of them come from the surrounding villages. This has a number of implications for the guests. For starters, the staff will treat you like gold; these people are thrilled to be working for Jungle Bay. They may move a bit slower than you are accustomed to, but all service is done with grace. The tour guides (Brother & Irving) are amazing people, be sure to ask them lots of questions as they know everything about Dominica. The head of Jungle Bay (Sam), will do whatever he can to make your stay enjoyable.

Rooms start at $159, but the hotel also offers a seven-night Eco-Adventure Package for $1,400 per person which includes:

airport shuttle with refreshments, cold towels and a sightseeing drive, a welcome coconut drink, fresh fruits & flowers in room on arrival, deluxe double occupancy accommodations, any item on the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus plus all non alcoholic juices and drinks, and  daily scheduled hikes and excursions plus two half hour spa massages.
