If we were internationally known we would stay at the Le Montrose. Hell, even though we aren't even D-list material, we are considering staying at this hotel next time we are in LA.
Why? For starters, it is perfectly located in a quiet residential neighborhood between Sunset and Santa Monica Boulevards. Secondly, this all-suite hotel just renovated all 132 of its rooms. The result is a bunch of tastefully done two room suites with a high-ish ceilings and a gas fireplace. Sure the bathrooms are a tad on the cavernous side, but the friendly staff makes up for the slightly dark bathroooms, at least in our opinion.
The rooftop pool area turned out to be one of our favorites. Great views of LA, a scattering of cabanas, a private feel, a tennis court, and a hot tub set off to the side. The pool is uncrowded, but there is a nice smattering of beautiful people that should make you feel sufficiently glam.
Let's recap: This place isn't overpriced or overcrowded, the staff is cool, the location is central for West Hollywood visitors, yet quiet, and the pool area is one of the best we saw.
