Atlantis Loses Important Info

January 11, 2006 at 3:58 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

In what appears to be a disturbing trend, the Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island  in the Bahamas is reporting that personal information belong to nearly 55,000 customers have been stolen from the resort's databases.

The stolen information includes names, addresses, credit card details, social security numbers, drivers license numbers and bank account data, according to a filing with the Bahamas Securities and Exchange Commission.

Atlantis is notifying affected customers and offering them a free credit monitoring service for one year.

Not surprisingly, the resort tried to bury this item on their news page, listing it last and after a news item from November. We only hope they will boost up their data protection as a result of this.
