The Golden Nugget. You have to be willing to give downtown Vegas a try, which we have never done. But if you are planning on going to Vegas between Nov. 13-24, or Dec. 11-22 the Nugget is offering weekday rates of $55 and weekend rates of $89 to try to get you in the door.

So what have those Internet millionaires done with the joint since making that god awful TV show? Well according to one recent visitor:

The room (South Tower, 20th floor) was clean and quiet. The bathroom is a bit small but serviceable. The look of the room is somewhat dated as is the rest of the hotel, at least in comparison to the newer hotels on the strip. The casino is a bit small by strip standards.

The buffet was cheap but unappetizing (the floor manager on Thursday night could not understand that we had used a two for one coupon and did not owe him for another person - we paid the extra charge to make him go away). The food in the cafe was quite good.

The crowd skews older than on the strip, probably an average age of 45 to 50. The muzak in the casino caters to this age group. Be ready for Carly Simon and the Bee Gees.

Here is the deal link, if you are up for a little seventies action Vegas style.
