Go West Young Gansevoort

Gansevoort West is a comin'.

Yup, Manhattan's Hotel Gansevoort is packing up its meat and heading to the West Coast to open a second Gansevoort.

In today's LA Times it was revealed that Gansevoort West will be opening in the old Embassy hotel on Grand Avenue at 9th Street in Downtown Los Angeles.

Plans for the building include adding a spa and fitness center, along with a restaurant and bar "that will look up into a glass-bottomed swimming pool."

On top of the building will, naturally, be an outdoor lounge and another restaurant. Hmm. Maybe they can fly down some Marin folks to complete the B&T feel of the original.

Already existing inside the building is the famous Trinity Auditorium which was built in 1914 and had seen performances from jazz greats and rock n' roll legends before being taken over by Embassy.

Some more detes:
The hotel will take its design cues from the golden age of Hollywood, with blue carpeting, velvet chaise lounges and sit-down vanity areas in the rooms. The look is being conceived by architect Stephen B. Jacobs and interior designer Andi Pepper.

Stay tuned.
