Kimpton's Mayfair Open, Sort Of

Kimpton's newest property, the renovated Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove, FL, is open and taking reservations on all rooms, save the presidential suite.  The introductory rate claims to start at $139, however our search (for rooms in November) revealed no rates below the $200 level.

That is the good news.

The bad news?

The front desk, spa, restaurant, and highly anticipated 85-foot rooftop swimming pool are still not done, and the hotel is in the midst of trying to get these amenities finished while they are open.

You know what that means...construction run amuck, however, this property has been under construction whilst open for some time, so they should be getting the hang of balancing guests and renovations. Furthermore, at this point at least the rooms are done (rooms should have DVD, flat screen tvs, and free Internet access).

However, for a property that was suppose to open back in May of 2005, finishing up early in 2006 seems a tad drawn out and behind schedule, does it not?

In any event, now you know what to expect if you book during the ongoing construction.
