Upon entering the lobby of the hotel (cough...motel...cough), I waited for about 5 minutes before someone even greeted me. They apparently had no idea, or did not care at all, that I was there to review the hotel for a national publication, distributed to Travel Agents galore. I was given a key to my room, and told that I needed to move my car. Where? Anywhere I wanted-- They had no parking and no valet, so I was on my own. "The garage around the corner costs $20 a night. You can leave it there."
I dropped my things in the room (which, by the way, had a concrete floor, and a mini bar with a only half-empty can of seltzer water in it) and took off for the night, only returning when I had enough of a buzz on that there would be no problem sleeping (aka passing out). After a few short hours of sleep, I awake sober, and sweating like hell. There is no thermostat in the room, and it is hot as hell. I call the front desk (which was a chore in itself-- The phone had no instructions, dialing 0 did not call the front desk, so I actually had to turn on my computer and look up their # online) and asked them to turn the AC up. A half hour later I am still sweating, and I said Fuck It, and I went home. I was lucky enough to have the option of sleeping in my own bed instead of their hell hole.
