Our favorite on the list? Prague's Hotel Maximilian. This property is near Old Town Square and just had a major facelift this March. The results?  Spacious rooms, Phillippe Starck bathroom fixtures, on-site spa, and flat screen tvs.

Oh, and one recent visitor claims the oft overlooked soundproofing is top notch:

...only 5 minutes from the Old Town Square. Spacious, modern, bright but comfortable. As we came out of the lift my heart sank on seeing our room right next to it. But with 2 of the lift walls within our room we never once heard it, such is the soundproofing!
