There are plenty of hotel implosions in Vegas, however, as far as we know, Mandalay Bay pulled off the first ever hotel service implosion this past weekend.

As you know, there are two Mandalay Bays, which from this point forward will be referred to as THEGood (THEHotel) and THEBad. At 12:30 am PST, after a five and a half hour flight, we arrived at THEBad looking forward to a little shut eye.

After waiting in a twenty minute check-in line, we headed up to our room, only to find the cleaning crew just getting started on servicing the room.

Naturally, we called the front desk and asked for a new room. After twenty more minutes, we were checked-in to a room with dirty towels on the bathroom floor, used soap, and an empty Powerade bottle.

Exhausted, we passed out in our dirty room.

Our wake up call was at 6am and we immediately headed down to the business center to tap into the WiFi, which was not only a paid service, but also failed to work.

After an hour on the phone with tech support, we headed to the Mandalay's sorry excuse for a business center where we logged on for $10/half-hour and had a construction crew working directly beside us.

The topper?  Just try waiting for an elevator at the Mandalay.  Let us know if you get one in less than twenty minutes, because our experience was crowded, slow, almost non-existent elevator service.

How did the staff react to all of these issues?  Indifferently.  One staff member told me "there are 3,000 rooms in this hotel, and we are 110% full, you are lucky they [the staff] didn't ship you off to the Luxor."

The Mandalay Bay Resort comes with a big price tag, and at least on this trip, wasn't worth it.  Do yourselves a favor and drop down a little more cash for THEHotel, or drop a little less cash and go elsewhere.

Oh, and let us know if your stay differs from ours, or if the Mandalay attempts to fix some of these service issues.
