Recently, Fairmont Hotels announced they were converting 1/3rd of their San Francisco location into condos, effectively copying the Plaza move in NYC.

The Fairmont is also joining the Four Seasons on Market Street and the soon-to-be-opened St. Regis on Fourth Street in November, both of which are offering condos for sale within the hotel.

While 226 of the 591 Fairmont rooms will be converted, the hotel company will not put condos in the Fairmont tower, "a stark, 1961 addition to the stolidly ornate 1907 hotel atop Nob Hill" and recognizable landmark.
