Man Sues Harrah's Hotel-Casino over $3

The California state Supreme Court ruled yesterday that a Los Angeles man can sue Harrah's Entertainment Inc. in Las Vegas over a $3 energy surcharge levied by its Harrah's Las Vegas hotel-casino.

"The tourist claimed that the lack of disclosure of the fee when he made his $50-a-night room reservation over the telephone constituted a fraudulent and deceptive business practice."

The case is a big ruling in terms of filing lawsuits against out-of-state companies, especially since Harrah's was specifically targeting California residents.

It will also make Nevada's hotel-casinos a little more on edge about their disclosure practices.

But next up for Harrah's is the June 13 purchase, worth $9.5-billion of Caesars Entertainment Inc. The purchase will make Harrah's the world's largest casino company, in control of six Vegas properties.
