Barbados Getaway Hotels

Hugh Grant just plunked down $5.7 million on a getaway place in Barbados, prompting the celebrity weekly , Celebrity Living, to investigate this Caribbean Island.

Here's what they found:

• It was a former British colony that now has a population of 279,000.

• The average weather is 85 degrees during the day and rarely drops below 70 at night.

• There are six golf courses.

• White beaches and crystal blue waters, what more could you want?

• Mick Jagger also owns a home there!

Places to stay include the pricey Sandy Lane Hotelwhere hotels run for $800 a night to $25,000 for suites.

If you are seeking more privacy, head for the Dream Resort, a full refurbished Barbadian home, where a private villa goes for $2,145 a night. (This is what Hugh Grant did with his lady love Jemima Khan before buying his own digs.)
