Once Upon A Time In LaLa Land, Part Two

It is all about the LA hotel scene today.

Four major Los Angeles hotels have undergone renovations to make their restaurants and bar areas more hip, and thus, hopefully, more frequented.

The Argyle Hotel dropped $2 million to transform the Tower Bar into a classy space with fireplaces, walnut paneling with brass inlay and American bistro cuisine like $21 hamburgers served with brie for menu options.

"It tends to attract people that have confidence, that understand that it is cool," hotel owner Jeff Klein told the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Westwood, Beverly Hills and Hollywood Hotels after the jump.

Well we lack confidence, but we think that god-awful celebrity dance show is decidedly uncool--can we still get into your hotel?

The W in Westwood also dropped $2 million to redo its restaurant and other facilities in hopes of keeping ahead of the trends.

A Japanese-inspired design theme was put into place that includes "screens of woven rattan and coconut shells and an outdoor patio."

On the menu is "gourmet comfort food"---not so much Mac n' Cheese as is Kobe Steak Carpaccio.  Entree prices start steep at $23.

The Regent Beverly Wilshire spent $2.5 million to redo its Lobby Lounge and Dining Room in hopes of attracting local residents (i.e. Hollywood power hitters) and younger clientele.

Renamed The BLVD (because it faces Wilshire Boulevard) features, what else?, California Cuisine. Outdoor seating was also added (perhaps to laugh at tourists on Rodeo Drive.) Whatever they did, it worked. The likes of "Scrubs" star Zach Braff have been seen hanging out there.

Also in the works for the hotel is a Wolfgang Puck Steakhouse.

In good old Hollywood, The Hollywood Roosevelt's Dakota restaurant took its 1926 Spanish Colonial space and transformed the restaurant's interior to look like some of the neighborhood's reigning hotspots. The new dinner menu is full of "meat, poultry, and fish."
