Hotel Deals Go out the Window

June 28, 2005 at 9:17 AM | by | Comments (0)

Travel experts are predicting an average 4.5% hotel price increase this summer from last year, and for those looking to stay at resorts, the bad news gets worse: rates during prime periods could soar 20%.

The biggest reason for the increase is what we've been talking about all year, people are loving traveling and staying at hotels again.

However, some newer things are happening that's also driving the prices.

According to USA Today travelers are booking reservations far in an advance which allows hotels to keep their original prices.

Some of the areas jacking up the room rates are:

Las Vegas with $107.32

Washington with $133.31

New York with  $187.22

Some suggestions for finding deals?

*Stay on the outskirts of cities, where rates are lower.

*Avoid holiday weekends.

*Check hotel Web sites for brand-specific specials.
