Inn Row On Nantucket
North Water Street is the heart of Inn row out on Nantucket. On this street, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a bed and breakfast.
Ostensibly, most of these B&B's look almost identical. Old houses, gray shingles, expansive porches, Adirondak chairs in the yard, creaky old rooms with quaint, or haphazard decoration inside, depending on you taste.
The Carlisle is one such Inn--close to beaches, close to town, close to the ferry--but many inns boast these same attributes, so how do you choose? Price, service, and comfort level.
ACK vets no doubt have their favorites. One such vet has this to say about the Carlisle:
We tried room #20 this time. It is on the second floor with large four poster bed and fireplace. Great room that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time but with the modern goodies like triple sheets, comfy bed linens tv and a/c. The breakfast porch looks out over the garden where you can eat outside in the warmer months.
Get out to the island and play pin the tail on the Inn for yourselves, it's the only way to develop a favorite.
