The Roosevelt Hotel in NYC is offering a $169 per night summer rate, which is good on weekends as well as weekdays.  The Roosevelt, is a recently renovated 3 Diamond (AAA) close to Grand Central Station.  The guest rooms are tiny, but include free Internet access.

Let's face it, when you are looking for a summer hotel deal in NY you have to be ready to compromise.

Small to the point you could walk past the tv cabinet to get to the phone. I could almost touch each wall of the room with both hands.
