Travel & Leisure's July issue mentions Maine's Chebeague Island Inn as a "Inn of the Month."

Whitewashed rooms, drinks on the veranda, and sweeping views of Casco Bay are all great reasons to check out the Chebeague.

However, you should know Chebeague is an isolated place. The ferry ride to Portland will take over an hour, and sure you can be on the mainland in 15 minutes, but you will find yourself in Yarmouth.

If you are up for isolation, there is no doubt the beautifully restored 1920's hotel is worth checking out, but you might want to consider driving to Cousin's Island, hopping on the ferry, and have dinner at the inn.

For reasons we won't get into here, we have an intimate knowledge of the Maine coast, and we figure with Maine basking in its summer glory for the next two weeks or so before winter returns, we should take this opportunity to share our stories with you.

More "Maine Inn" stories to follow. Stay tuned.
