I stayed at Hotel Q for four nights earlier this month. It's very,
very cool architecturally; if you're looking for curved wood, slate,
white porcelain and red accents, this is the place. There were Korres
products for the in-room sink and shower the first days, mysteriously
switching to Aveda halfway through. The rooms were nicely furnished,
if minimalist to the point of being sparse. There were some nice
details, like the cool fluorescent bulb above the sink, and the
textured wall behind the bed.
Breakfast was good and the location is great; nice shops and the S-Bahn just down the street. The building behind it is under construction, so make sure you ask for a room out front.
Beyond that, it felt like this hotel was just too cool to actually
have guests. The staff did warm up after a day or two, but the bar is
strictly guests and members only, even when it's empty on a Wednesday
night. A number of friends stayed at the Arcotel Velvet with good results; not nearly as sleek or cool, but the concierge gave great restaurant. Oh, and no fake ostrich divans or male models in sight in either hotel.
