Not everyone wants to South America and tote around a backpack.

Another hotel geared towards the too old  rich cool for backpacking set is Posada del Faro, in Maldonado, just outside Punta del Este.  Here you will be away from the crowds, but steps away from a secluded beach on the Atlantic.

The 12 rooms are simple, yet all have their own terrace with recliners and hammocks.

Hidden, yet steps from the beach, and a short ride (30km) to 'The St. Tropez of South America', this "Posada" is a peaceful spot a stone's throw from the party--doesn't sound too bad does it?

Oh, and the whispers are that Herbert Ypma will name Posada del Faro in his upcoming Hip Hotels Beach edition (Fall 2005).
