Love Vegas? Hate the mass-produced hotel rooms and atmosphere? The new trend popping up in Vegas seems to be the boutique hotels within the big ones like THE Hotel, and alternatives like the SkyLofts.

Adding to the mix is The West Wing within the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas which just opened last March.

This used to be the old Emerald Tower but has since been renovated.

With 700 rooms "the size you'd find in many European hotels" it was created for "guests who are looking for a non-traditional hotel room experience."

Look for "kitschy tubular lights on the night tables, and great touches include leather chairs, DVD players and flat-screen TVs (one is built into the bathroom mirror)."

And it's affordable with rooms starting at $109.

However, because of the small rooms, The West Wing is not recommended for claustrophobics.
