The New York Times hit up South Beach to ponder the existence of the Hotel Victor aka the Penguin Party House.

Since we here at Hotel Chatter have written about the Hotel Victor since what seems like the beginning of time, from P. Diddy's opening bash to Jet Set Lara's stay, it should come as no surprise that we consider the NY Times story a little passe.

Nevertheless, we always appreciate a hotel review and in reading this one when uncovered a few new tidbits.

New Hotel Victor Info Post Break

-The hotel sits between a gay cafe complete with loud drag queen shows and Gianni Versace's mansion where he was shot.

-Despite the "oasis of calm" the rooms provide, if you crack a window you will most likely get sexually harassed.

-The mini-bar has a bottle of Petron and a soothing eye mask. (What a genius combination!)

-The vibe czarina, Victoria, calls you a few days before your scheduled arrival and staff presence is consistent especially near the pool.

-Speaking of the pool, you may have to tip a lot to get the seats you want and be prepared to rumble.

-Only the well-to-do can afford to shack at the Vic. Rates in low season start at $405 a night for a standard room and in high season (typically December-April) go for $525.
