Jupiter Hotel Or Jupiter Motel?

Formerly a Travelodge, Travel & Leisure dubs the Jupiter Hotel Portland Oregon's version of LA's Standard, or SF's Phoenix.

Hmm. Maybe, but like with the Phoenix make sure you are going to the Jupiter Hotel for the right reasons. What would the right reasons be? To party. Plain and simple. Cult rock acts play regularly at the Doug Fir Lounge. However, don't go to the Jupiter expecting much of a stay. This place is loud, basically a night club with beds, and remember underneath all the Blu Dot furnishings and blackboard doors it is just a side of the road motel.

As long as your expectations are in order, you should have a good time at the Jupiter--all depends what you are in the mood for.

Better yet, go to the Jupiter drink heavily, then take a cab back to your quiet hotel in town to sleep it off.

Here is what one recent Jupiter visitor said about the place:

Management needs to decide whether they want to operate a motel or a bar - but having both in the same spot DOESN'T WORK!

Rooms start around $70.

    Doug Fir, not Douglas Fir

The music venue is one of the best in the city, but I can imagine the toll it takes on those misguided souls who actually hope to get some sleep.
