"Can't repeat the past?" he cried incredulously. "Why of course you can!" --Great Gatsby

Obviously the last time Emperor Wynn opened a hotel, the media was much easier to stymie.

Yesterday Wynn disputed a newspaper columnist's recent reports that he hates celeb chefs and doesn't know how to hang a plasma tv:

"I don't like celebrity chefs?" he asked. "I got nothing but celebrity chefs."

Wynn bristled at the same columnist's contention that others who've viewed the property said its hotel rooms have giant plasma televisions that aren't visible from the rooms' beds.

"The televisions are right in the middle, aimed straight at the bed," he offered.

The news media won't be allowed to take photographs of the property until the May 4 release of Vanity Fair magazine, which Wynn offered an exclusive first look.

Come on, you must admit, you didn't see us being able to work a Gatsby quote into a hotel story--like ever.
