Onto the South of France!

The best season to go? Early spring because "March and early April feature cool, clear days, marred by a few days of rain each month." Hmm...isn't April almost over?

Anyways, places to stay include the Cannes' swank Hotel Martinez which typically goes for $640 per night but is available from Jan. 1 to April 30 at $333.

Something more affordable? Try the recently opened, very grand Palais de la Mediterranee in Nice where early spring rates start at $358, compared to a usual high of $525.

The cheapest deal is up in Aix at the estate-style Villa Gallici which is $281 in March but is now nearly $100 more.
