This week the NY Post travel roundup includes off-season hotspots and their best prices.

Winter means travel to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Just 85 miles from Seattle, this island gets even more rain than that city creating a "storm-watcher's and surfer's paradise."

Being that it is practically summer, we are not sure why the Post led with a winter season story, but hey, we'll go to Van no matter what the season--go ahead call us crazy.

The Post draws our attention to a couple BC properties, including, the Sooke Harbour House which has discounted rooms at $218 a night through April 30.

The Cowichan Valley's Aerie Resort also has discounted rooms at $165 but this was only through March 27, so now regular rates of $225 apply through September.

Lastly there is the island's luxe property Wickaninnish Inn on Tofino's Chesterman Beach. Rates are now $322 but are $177 from Nov. 1-Feb. 28. So if you want the discounted rates you are going to have to wait until next year, or winnow your choices down to just the Sooke Harbour House.
