You Stay Classy, San Diego
San Diego made popular by Three's Company, Shamu and exotic animals at the Zoo, is experiencing a hotel rebirth, thanks to the new ballpark Petco Park in the downtown area.
Hotel Solamar, opened earlier this month, and though we are still awaiting word on the Solamar experience, we do know it has opened near the city's famed Gaslamp Quarter (i.e. where everyone goes to drink, shop and eat) and convention center.
Solamar is a pricey Kimpton boutique hotel with overnight shoe shines, rates start at $249.
If you are looking for something on the other end of the price spectrum, you might want to check out the 500 West Hotel. Just a few months ago, the property opened on the former Armed Services YMCA building and its onsite fitness center includes a basketball court.
With great prices, introductory rates start at $69, this hotel seems like a must stay.
But there is some confusion with a piece of copy on their website. The hotel boasts "private shared bathrooms and intimate public areas throughout."
Hmm...guess Three's Company still has some influence in certain San Diego hotels.
