Though writing about Paris was like so two weeks ago, the NY Times has a write-up of some interesting Parisian dwellings.

By far the most interesting and budget-worthy is the Hospitel-Hotel Dieu Paris near the Notre Dame Cathedral and central to everything.

The hospital was originally built in 651 AD to confine the sick rather than cure them, as a way of containing infectious diseases.

The current building is from the 19th century and it is still a hospital although few know about it.

Once on the sixth floor however, it turns into a 14-room hotel with red-quilted beds, plenty of TV channels, and an open courtyard.

One visitor said:

"While this hotel is a bit institutional -- after all it is situated in a French public hospital -- but it is the perfect choice for those who want friendly accomodations, a central location, cleanliness, and something different."

Rooms start are 102 Euros a night. Bonsoir mes amis.
