Actors John Cusack and Johnny Depp were among the guests that gathered for a private memorial gathering in honor of the Doctor.

Hotel Jerome hosted the "service", which was invite only, and was closed to reporters and the public.

Inside the hotel ballroom, a giant American flag and and almost life-size black and white photo cutout of HST greeted guests.

Two anonymous fans called, Belly Up, the bar in the Hotel Jerome, last week, and gave their credit card numbers so bartenders could buy a drink for anyone who mentioned Thompson's name.

If you find yourself at Hotel Jerome in the next few days, might as well try whispering Thompson's name and see if you can snag yourself a free drink.
