Beverly Hilton Makeover...Still Going
The Beverly Hilton has long been famous for hosting exclusive celebrity parties, several awards events like the 2005 Golden Globes and of course, for sheltering the rich and famous during their time in LA.
But on the outside it looks sort of ugly. Like a big motel from the 1960s.
The hotel, which has been undergoing renovations for about a year, is expected the renovation bill hit $60 million, a big jump from the original estimate of $40 million, but still not the $85 million previously predicted...yet.
Oasis West LLC bought the 50-year-old hotel from Hollywood mogul Merv Griffin over a year ago for $130 million. Since then, 300 rooms have been renovated with all rooms expected to be done by May, guess they missed that January deadline.
Luckily, the 20,000-square-foot ballroom was completed in time for Jamie Foxx to give his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes.
The new front desk should open later this month and the lobby bar is expected to be the final project.
Because of the renovation, rates will go up to about $275 to $325 a night, about an $80 to $100 increase.
No word yet on whether the outside sign gets revamped too.
