You want stark? St. Paul is beyond minimal, the property is tastefully decorated, but it is all about meeting your basic needs. No extras in these rooms, at least in the standard rooms. That said, this hotel still manages to create a welcoming vibe.

St. Paul is a nice hotel, with a really friendly staff--we spent almost half and hour chatting it up with a doorman that lived out in the Plateau. However, be prepared for no real extras. If you are looking for a comfortable boutique hotel in Old Montreal that will bring you peace and quiet, as well as pleasant service, this could very well be your place.

On the other hand if you are looking for a design or boutique hotel "experience", remember this hotel is on the icy side of design.

St. Paul would be the perfect place for the Hollywood crowd looking to escape the Montreal scene and looking for a quiet place to rest after a hard day of filming in Canada.

One more thing, Cube, which is one of Montreal's trendiest restaurants, is located inside the hotel.
