How To Get A Sub $200 Hotel In NYC

As you know, we are always running around looking for the best sub $200/night room in Manhattan. Gridskipper has rekindled the perpetual sub $200 NYC hotel room discussion with a couple of good posts.

The second post points to blogger Jinzi Chen's hotel finds. Jinzi booked hotels as an entertainment travel agent, while under strict orders from not-quite-ready-for-prime-time artists, actors, and entertainers looking for ways to save some of their stipend for a night of NYC debauchery.

Jinzi adds:

While these aren't the "hippest" hotels out there - they are really decent for those who want to stay at a somewhat decent hotel but can't afford the W Union Square.

From our own experience we can tell you the Ameritania is our favorite in this crew, though we haven't tried the others.  The Ameritania is a cool, clean, low-budget boutique right around the corner from Letterman's place.
