[Publisher's Note: Where have we been this morning? Dealing with this.]

Like good officials at any sporting event, the best outcome an airport hotel can hope for is that it is not noticed at all.  Sure, sure, once in a while a great airport hotel might rise above the exhaust fumes of the nearby jets, however, most of the time if we are taking the time to review an airport hotel it is not to shower the property with praise. Sadly, the Orlando Airport Marriott falls into the dubious category of airport hotel not-so-good.

The rooms at the Orlando Airport Marriott are absolutely fine, and the shuttle service timely and efficient, unfortunately, our praise stops here.

The reasons not to go to this airport hotel after the jump...

First up, the airport shuttle driver excited us with the promise of free lobby WiFi. This perplexed us, because we are well aware that Marriott Flagships are wirelessly challenged to say the least, however, we were hopeful.  Turns out holding on to false hope was our first mistake.  Not only did the lobby not provide free WiFi, but to complicate matters we were suckered into paying the 24 hour $9.99 broadband Internet access fee, only to have our Internet connection go dark after a scant ten hours our so (thus the late arrival of our published stories today).

If the Internet was the only problem at the Marriott Airport we could deal with it, we aren't some kind of cyborg freaks you know, but the Orlando Airport Marriott was just gettin' warmed up.

Non smoking rooms were requested, and confirmed at reservation time, and smoking rooms were doled out at the time of check in.  No real solution to this issue was provided by the front desk, besides some half assed "room oxidization", that appeared to consist of an old school vacuum cleaner and a can of Fabreeze.

Furthermore, the view outside our room, of the second floor roof, was littered with empty cans, and what looked like heavy wiring.  To make matters worse, at the crack of dawn construction workers, with a birds eye view into your room mind you, began to work on the roof, awakening many hotel guests with the crunch of their construction boots against the surface of the roof.

Looking for a solution to all this?  Fear not.  If you must stay by the airport in Orlando there are at least a half dozen other options.  Next time we will try the Wingate Inn, we have heard good things about them.
