We aren't going to pretend to understand rocket science, however, what we can tell you is that, according to the Tucson Citizen, by the end of the year, the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina will be powered by a fuel cell.
What does that mean? Here is what were able to decipher from the article:
- The technology is similar to what NASA uses to power space shuttles.
- The cells have cut about 5 percent from the hotels' energy costs.
- Since the fuel is not burned, pollution commonly associated with the combustion of fossil fuels is dramatically reduced.
Sounds like this fuel cell trend is good for both the hotel bean counters and the planet earth.
