A new Kimpton, Hotel Solamar, is opening in San Diego April 1. Located in the Gaslamp district, and boasting what sounds like a kick ass pool deck:

By night they settle into a comfortable chair next to one of three raging fire pits on its 13,000 sq foot pool deck overlooking Petco Park and Downtown.

Very cool.

Our favorite feature? Free overnight shoeshines. We can't wait to milk that cow.

Of course, you know we are always excited when a new Kimpton opens, and hardly ever disappointed (thus far), however, can someone please explain to us this line of copy on their website:

Solamar attracts a similar, vibrant clientele and guests who are energetic, bright and modern. You want to be around them. They are sharp, intelligent, youthful, but not necessarily young. They gather by day to "create" tomorrow...

Huh? Hey Solamar the Seer, how the hell do you know who is going to show up at your hotel--it isn't even open yet.

While we consider ourselves bright, modern, youthful, but not necessarily young, we wonder if the Kimpton copy monkey got a bit carried away.

Oh, well. We are still excited to check out this new hotel.

As always, if you get there before us, let us know about it.

Now back to gathering by day to "create" tomorrow...whatever that means.
