The March issue of Wallpaper* mentions a new just opened AC hotel in Madrid named The Palacio del Retiro.

Housed in a 19th-century palace near the Parque del Retiro, the property mixes old school palace type furnishings with contemporary furniture by AC himself, no not Al Cowlings, thankfully, AC, in this case is Antonio Catalan.

Modern Basque menu restaurant, bar serves great cocktails, all 51 rooms have plasma screens, and of course, the best feature--FREE MINIBARS!  We don't know why more hotels don't go this route.

Wallpaper* recommends suite 201, the former palace dining room, if you are looking to splurge.
