Free In-Room Hotel Phone Calls?

We all know everyone avoids using the in-room hotel phones at all costs. We glue our cell phones and Blackberries to our ears in the name of saving money, and blow our wad on the mini-bar instead.
However, until recently, due to egregious roaming charges, International travelers were stuck with in-room phones.
Now, many hotels are offering not only WiFi, but also VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) options. Skype is one of the most popular options, which allows users to download simple software and converse anywhere in the world via headset and mic.
However, some hotels are taking things a step further, and leveraging their networks to offer guests free phone calls. The Residence Inn in New Haven, CT, claims to be the "first outlet to offer free VoIP in its 112 rooms."
Now that rocks.
Reading some recent reviews of the New Haven Residence Inn it looks like the hotel could use a hook or two...
