AC10 Torino: You Can't Get In For The Olympics, But...

Go To The Hotel's Web

[Ed. Note: mnot, one of our favorite Hotel Mavens, literally stumbled upon a kick ass hotel in Turin, Italy. (Great photos mnot!) Our issues with Italian hotels always stemmed from reports we received from you guys. However, all of a sudden the Italian hotel buzz seems to be turning from hellish to damn good. Could Italian hotels be turing the corner? Remember to send us your best and worst hotel stories.]

Next time you're in Torino after the Olympics, check out the AC10 Turin; it proves that you can find a good hotel in Italy, easily.

I stayed almost by accident; I'd booked into the amazing-looking Le Meridien Turin Art + Tech After all, who could resist staying in a recycled Fiat factory with a big dome and a running track (ex-test track) on the roof?

That wasn't to be; they'd overbooked, and I got bumped (shudder) to "a very nice hotel nearby," which happened to be the AC10. Lucky me.

Having opened only three weeks before, the staff were still working some service kinks out, and the property was mostly empty. Even so, it met or surpassed about every design hotel I've stayed in.

Now, I know that there's a long-standing bias against Italian hotels at HotelChatter, so I'll let the pictures do the talking, other than saying that the rooms are magnificent, the technology fresh, the mini-bars free, the staff friendly and the food fantastic (is it possible to get bad food in Italy?).
