While many of Russia's Soviet era hotels are being demolished a.k.a. "closed for refurbishing," one is opening it's doors after a successful $20 million-facelift.
At a mere $600 for a standard room, (an ever so slight 50% increase over the pre-renovation prices), the Hotel Savoy Moscow
the 68-room historical hotel boasts gold furnishings, ornate marble floors and flat-screen televisions. The building's 1913 facade on Ulitsa Rozhdestvenka, opposite Detsky Mir, remains unchanged.
The hotel is currently applying for 5 star status.
Isn't capitalism grand?
