Zagat's 2006 Hotel Guide Gets It Wrong

Hotel In Question: Beverly Hills Hotel
Zagat's Take:
"Step back into a bygone era of glitz and glamour" at this "icon" "nestled amongst lush palms" and "marvelous grounds" "like a perfectly preserved movie set"; whether you stay in an "oh-so-private bungalow" or a "plush" room with a "canopy bed and huge bathroom", the "pink palace never ceases to amaze"; the "pool is legendary", La Prairie spa and the work-out room are "pluses" and dinner or "a drink in the Polo Lounge" where you can "view stars in their natural habitat" is "unforgettable."
HotelChatter's Take:
We agree with most of this. The famed Bev Hills Hotel is beautiful. If you have the money to plunk down on one of those ultra posh bungalows you probably won't leave disappointed. However, one of the Hotel Mavens told us to skip the room service. Oh, and what is with the "low class looking hookers patrolling the hotel." Maybe our tipster was there on an off night, but at over $400 a night "unforgettable" shouldn't mean breaking out in hives and chatting with bottom rung hookers.
