Does A Shore Club Key Card Get You Privileges?

The Shore Club is no doubt the most exclusive hotel on Miami Beach.

Staff is constantly checking for your "privilege card" at every entrance.

The basic Shore Club rooms are drab and cold. Speckled concrete floors dominate both the psych ward looking corridors and the guest rooms, amenities are minimal, and the decor is minimal and a bit dated. The televisions specifically drastically need an update.

But enough about that, you didn't pay $300 +/- a night for the room, you shelled out the cash for access to the pool, Nobu, and Skybar, right?

Think again.

Here are some guest complaints we overheard:

·   The maids didn't come until after 1pm

·   You could hear everything going on in the hallways and adjacent rooms due to the concrete floors

·   Nobu would not allow us to reserve a table for dinner and we had to wait almost two hours to be seated

·   There was no seating available at SkyBar unless you purchased bottle service

The lesson here? Don't just assume that your key card gives you privileges--ask the staff before you go. Oh, and don't expect your standard room to be any great shakes.

Our guess? Your level of standard guest privileges is completely dependent on what is going on while you are in town. For instance, during this week's Art Basel, we would check twice before assuming we could grab a seat at Sky Bar.
