Blogger Shawn Burke comments on The Standard Hotel in LA and introduces us to the chicquarium:

Actually it's one of those places that reinforces the idea that no matter how hip you think you are, well, you're not. For example, when you walk into the lobby in the evening, there is a plexiglass box/room/area up behind the reception desk. Think of the aquarium you see in many places, except instead of fish and coral there's a young woman sitting on pillows reading a book, wearing boxer shorts and a tank top, all very artsy like.

Alas, the chicquarium isn't what made The Standard the coolest hotel in the world:

The problem is that the rooms aren't just cool, they are freaking freezing. We've all played the "up at 3am trying like hell to find a thermostat" game. No such luck. They force you to be cool.

The girl in the chicquarium does look a tad cold, shall we petition the hotel to up the temp--for the sake of the chicquarium girls?
