Located on the Yucatan River in Tulum, Amansala offers "Bikini Boot Camp"--aka--get yo ass in shape camp.
This camp is designed to help people feel good about their bodies. There is no pressure to participate in any of the activities and there is no open competition. Guests are encouraged to set their intentions at check-in, and become more at one with their bodies during their stay...but this isn't all obladi oblada crap, their is some work involved here people.
Melissa Perlman co-owner and "drill sargent" shouts:
Women come here to gain new perspective on life. The experience is more than the name bikini boot camp implies
Ok we made up the shouting thing.
This place claims to teach people how to relax through living the simple life in rustic cabanas and participating in a packed agenda including morning soul searching rituals (don't ask), power walking, and a healthy breakfast sans caffeine.
Oh, and of course, the men like it too:
Patrick Meyer, a marketing executive from Connecticut, reassures prospective visitors daunted by what may appear to be a feminine itinerary: "It's great for men -- eco-spa meets adventure - and fabulous women to inspire you."
Hm. Sounds like a hard ass vacation--literally--kind of a cross between Club Med and that OLN show Caribbean Work Out.
